Set up your tools, so basing on mine it's a cactus, water, iPad, laptop & a notebook. Don't even ask why I have a cactus and a bottle of water, they're my buddies.
It took me awhile to figure out what I would write in this post cause to be honest, blogging came to me naturally. A short recap of how I started mine:
When I was a sophomore in high school, I started reading blogs and I was very inspired by all these people who made blogs but of course, what would a fourteen year old know about starting up a blog but that didn't stop me. I signed up for Tumblr and started (re)blogging, I was also influenced much by my older sister who loved to blog as well. Most of the time, I just made it as an online diary where I'd rant and share things that was happening in my life but then after that I shifted from having an online diary to a style blogger (not that it's not an online diary anymore) and moved to blogspot back in late 2012 but I kept it as a secret so no one ever really knew I blogged until I started sharing it on social media. I know I'm not the most consistent person to being writing a blog but I tried and I guess, it's where I wanna be when I don't wanna be elsewhere (not to mention my gazillion other secret rant/poetry blogs which no one can ever see because I suck at writing & because secret feelings & angst) haha now I just made you really curious, didn't I?
Enough of that and let's get started!
1. FIND YOUR NICHE
What do you want to get from you blog? Where do you wanna go from blogging? What blog are you planning to put up? Those are the basic questions, find your niche guys! Be comfortable of what you're going to do.
2. MAKE A BLOG
How would you start a blog if you don't actually make one, this step is a no brainer. You just have to sign up where you want (e.g. Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr, Wix, etc) there really are so many sites nowadays that gives you the power to blog but I personally love blogspot because I've tried all those I've mentioned above but nothing will ever be as user-friendly as blogger.
In making a blog, also decide what kind of layout you want, if you wanna go minimalist or all out girly then no one's stopping you. It's your blog, it's your choice (sounds familiar, MYX??? haha) Pick a colorway too so your blog wouldn't look like a bag of skittles that just exploded.
3. START WRITING ABOUT YOUR INTERESTS
Every blog has a certain topic, mine would obviously be about Fashion & my style, sometimes (film) photography but you know there're countless other things to write about, may it be sports, poetry, life, adventures, etc etc. The possibilities are endless. It all boils down to what your interests are.
4. BE ACTIVE IN SOCIAL MEDIA
If you don't have twitter yet, then why not sign up for one? I know it's not everybody's favorite social media because of rants, drama and everything else but (for me) it's better than Facebook. I use it a lot more than opening facebook, I rarely even post a status because I just tweet it instead. Also don't forget Instagram, I admit to being a compulsive instagrammer and sometimes, it's unhealthy.
Being active in social media is really a part of becoming a blogger, it's where you can share your blog and mostly just a way to connect with people and meeting more people from the internet. It's a community.

5. LOVE WHAT YOU DO
I think I don't really have to elaborate this, it's very understandable just don't feel pressured at all by blogging because it's really not. You just have to love what you do and everything else will follow.
I hope that through this post, I was able to help you out in starting a blog and let me know if you did. Leave your links down below cause I'd surely love to check them out when I have time
XX, Monica

ReplyDeleteWill think about that so keep posted! :)
DeleteGreat post! I agree with you on Blogger being user-friendly because of course for people who are not really tech savvy, they'd find it difficult to go for a self-hosted blog such as Wordpress. :)
